The MXM 3.0 standard was released in 2009 and marks an update of the standard to comply to upcoming new display technologies and builds on the experience from v1.3 and 2.0/1.

| Width | Height | |
| Type A | 82mm | 70mm |
| Type B | 82mm | 105mm |
Contrary to the previous revision of the specification, there are now only 2 types. Type A is marginally larger than Type II which means that a Type I-like card is not featured. This corresponds to what we have seen in the field, with Type I card being heavily featured in the first generation of MXM products but hardly after that. Manufacturers targeting only very low end graphics implement these basic GPU's integrated on the board, those that target the flexibility of having a single platform for low- and mid-range don't mind implementing the low-end GPU on Type II.
Type B is slightly larger than Type III but not as big as Type IV.
The v3.0 connector is identical for Type A and B
The mounting holes, a cause for confusion and incompatibility on previous generations of MXM products, are also identical for both Type A and B.
